HELIOS raises $2.2M to scale hockey wearable

HELIOS Closes $2.2M Seed Round – Leading Wearable Technology Platform in Hockey Primed for Growth and Expansion

Portsmouth, NH – October 3, 2025 – HELIOS, the pioneering sports technology company bringing cutting-edge wearable analytics to the world of Hockey, today announced the close of its $2.2 million seed financing round. The round was led by a strong syndicate of investors across sports, technology, and consumer markets, including active NHL executives and players. Backing from leaders across the sport, including founding investor Ron Francis, a Hockey Hall of Famer and the current President of Hockey Operations for the Seattle Kraken, and Alex Kerfoot, forward for the Utah Mammoth, positions HELIOS as the clear leader in wearable performance technology for the fastest game on ice.

HELIOS’ platform combines its proprietary Core wearable sensor with advanced AI-driven motion tracking to deliver real-time analytics and insights for athlete development that have traditionally been inaccessible to players and coaches outside of the professional ranks. With adoption already spanning youth, NCAA, and professional hockey organizations, HELIOS is redefining how athletes train, develop, and perform.

“This Seed round is a major milestone for HELIOS,” said Bill Near, Founder & CEO of HELIOS. “Hockey players at every level deserve access to the same quality of data and insights as pros, and HELIOS makes that possible. This funding allows us to expand our platform, deepen our partnerships, and accelerate our mission to unlock athlete performance through technology.”

The funding will fuel:

Product Expansion – Enhancing HELIOS’ Core wearable, app and analytics suite with new top-level performance scores, AI-driven coaching and development plans.

Market Growth – Scaling adoption across DTC individual users and premier youth organizations as well as cross-sport applications.

Team Building – Growing HELIOS’ product, data science, and customer success teams to meet rising demand.

Strategic Partnerships – Deepening integrations with sports video & camera providers, training facilities, and league partners. HELIOS has recently announced partnerships with Matthew Knies (Toronto Maple Leafs) and Caroline Harvey (US Women’s National Team, University of Wisconsin).

HELIOS has established itself as the go-to platform for skating performance analytics, partnering with top teams and athletes to provide a competitive edge. The company’s subscription-based membership model, which combines hardware and software into one accessible package, is designed to deliver long-term value to players, parents, coaches, and organizations alike.

With its Seed round secured, HELIOS is set to scale rapidly, bringing its vision to thousands of athletes across North America, Europe and beyond.
