Introducing the HELIOS Performance Advisory Board
Four disciplines. One Mission. Shaping the future of hockey performance.
We've spent a lot of time over the eight years building something we believe in: a tool that measures the physical layer of hockey that no other platform can see. Stride by stride. Shift by shift. Practice by practice.
But a sensor is only as good as the expertise behind it. The metrics mean more when the people interpreting them have spent careers at the highest levels of the game. The data goes deeper when it's shaped by practitioners who understand not just what the numbers say, but what they mean for a player trying to get better.
Today we're announcing something we're genuinely proud of.
The HELIOS Performance Advisory Board.
Four of the most respected minds in hockey performance from across strength and conditioning, skating mechanics, player development, and skill development have joined HELIOS to help shape the future of what this platform can do for players, parents, and coaches at every level of the game.
This isn't a ceremonial board. These are practitioners who work with elite athletes every day, who understand the gap between data and development, and who joined because they believe HELIOS is closing that gap in a way nothing else does. Their expertise will directly influence how HELIOS evolves, the metrics we prioritize, the insights we surface, the language we use to help you understand what your data actually means.
Why this Board exists.
We'll be honest about something. Performance data is only as valuable as the trust behind it.
We hear from coaches, parents, and players who want to know: are these metrics accurate? Do they actually reflect what's happening on the ice? Is Stride Time measuring what we think it's measuring? Does the Energy Ratio actually mean something for development or is it a number that sounds good?
Those are fair questions.
And the answer is yes.
We're making that data even better by adding the expertise from people who have spent careers at the highest levels of hockey, who have seen what elite performance looks like up close, and who have validated that what HELIOS measures lines up with what they know to be true about the game.
That's the real purpose of this board. Not just to make HELIOS better (though it will), but to ensure that every metric, every insight, and every piece of data you see in this app reflects the genuine expertise of practitioners who have earned the right to say so.
Here's who they are.

Kevin is the Director of Performance for the Boston Bruins, holds a PhD in Human and Sport Performance, and is the author of "Speed Training for Hockey" and editor of "Strength Training for Hockey." He has spent his career at the intersection of athletic science and elite hockey and he understands better than almost anyone what physical readiness actually looks like at the NHL level.
In Kevin's words: "At the NHL level, players and coaches have consistent access to data on a player's physical output and development, plus video to support positional awareness and decision-making. HELIOS brings these same tools to players and coaches at every level of hockey, offering a unique platform that supports the growth of players and teams across the sport."
That's exactly why he's here. The tools that exist at the professional level shouldn't stop there. Kevin is joining HELIOS to help make sure they don't.

Ashlea is the owner of Ashlea Jones Athletes in Training and the Technical Skating Coach for the Peterborough Petes of the OHL. She has built her reputation training hundreds of elite athletes on the technical details of skating that most coaches never see and most players never fully understand.
In Ashlea's words: "My whole career has been about finding the details others miss and using them to help athletes reach their potential. I'm excited to bring that to the HELIOS Performance Board and to the hockey community."
For a platform designed to help players assess and improve their skating, from stride mechanics to on-ice effort, having Ashlea's expertise shaping how HELIOS communicates those insights is invaluable. She's going to make sure the data you see connects directly to the skating it's measuring, in a way that's technically accurate and actionable.
Jon is the owner of 11Hockey and has spent more than 20 years developing players across the NHL, AHL, NCAA, CHL, and beyond. He brings a perspective that is rare: deep technical knowledge of player development paired with a coach's understanding of what actually changes a player's trajectory over time.
In Jon's words: "Development isn't about collecting more reps. It's about understanding which reps actually move a player forward. I'm excited to help bring that perspective to the HELIOS Performance Board and to the hockey community."
Understanding which reps actually move a player forward is the whole point of performance data. Not more numbers. Better decisions about what the numbers mean. Jon is going to help HELIOS get sharper at exactly that.

Scott is the founder of Scott Jones Pro Player Hockey Development Corp and the Director of Player Development for the Sarnia Sting of the OHL. He is widely regarded as one of the premier skating and skill development coaches in the world. He is someone who has spent decades helping players at every level find more in their game than they knew was there.
In Scott's words: "I am excited to be joining the HELIOS Performance Advisory Board and share advice and expertise which can help further the future development of young players. The game is always changing and we are always looking for ways to stay ahead of the development curve."
Staying ahead of the development curve is exactly the right frame. Scott's presence on this board ensures that HELIOS evolves alongside the game, not behind it.
What this means for you.
Every metric you see in your HELIOS app is going to get better. The explanations will be sharper. The context will be richer. The connections between what the sensor measures and what it means for your player's development will be clearer.
Four disciplines. One mission. The future of hockey performance just got significantly stronger.
We'll be sharing more from each board member over the coming weeks, including their perspectives on skating, conditioning, and development. Stay tuned.
